Alexis Ohanian, co-founder of Reddit and husband to Serena Williams, has purchased an 8% stake in Chelsea Women, pushing the club’s valuation to £245 million.
He shared the news on LinkedIn, saying he’s doubling down on his support for women’s sports and is proud to join Chelsea as an investor and board member.
Mail Sport reports the investment puts Chelsea Women’s pre-money value at £225 million. The reigning WSL champions are now eyeing a domestic treble, having already won the league and League Cup. They face Manchester United in the FA Cup final this Sunday.
Ohanian praised the club’s leadership, especially president Aki Mandhar, calling her integrity and high standards a key reason for his involvement. He also shared images of Chelsea jerseys customized for his daughters Olympia and Adira.
Ohanian previously held the largest stake in Angel City FC, which sold last year for £192.3 million—a record sale for a women’s sports team. He is expected to attend the upcoming FA Cup final at Wembley.
