Exclusive. African Soccer Coaches can handle National Teams if given same Opportunity like the expatriates. Ponga Liwewe

Veteran Sports Broadcaster PONGA LIWEWE says, African Soccer Coaches has come of age to compete at the highest level with their expatriates counterparts.

The former Africa Soccer Show TV Host on SuperSports DSTV Statelite Channel queried why home grown Coaches should be left behind while their experience as former players will not be utilized at the senior level of coaching.

According to him, it is time for them to takeover the African terrain with their ideas, knowledge and team spirit. Examples from Late Coach Stephen Keshi of Nigeria, Aliou Cisse of Senegal and lately the home grown Coach of Ivory Coast who won the Afcon trophy beating Nigeria in the final in January 2024.

"I believe African Coaches can compete favorably with other coaches across the World that comes for these jobs in Africa, millions can be saved through their skills and improves the playing ability of the boys, who knows them and sees them as role models, African Coaches will do very well if given same opportunity like other coaches that come for same jobs outside Africa"

PONGA LIWEWE told our Chief Correspondent Sunday Onuchukwu Osunkwo in a telephone interview from Zambia.

Ponga Liwewe was the former Secretary General of the Zambian Football Association before venturing into other businesses.
