Former Super Eagles of Nigeria Captain Nwankwo Kanu says, winning the Olympic Gold Medal in Atlanta USA 1996 was through hard work and team determination.

The former Arsenal Fc and Ajax Amsterdam forward narrated how the Nigeria side were able to overcome pressure from Argentina and Brazil to clinch the Gold. 

"You know when you are going to a competition you have the likes of Brazil, Argentina, Mexico nobody thinks of Africa, not to talk of winning it, we were the underdogs, that's why am telling the young ones, one has to be full of confidence, you have to know this thing Football will take me to where am going, you have to acknowledge yourself as the best. We went there believing we were the best and we won"

Kanu told Newsmen in an interview. 

Kanu played for Arsenal, Inter Milan, Ajax, Portsmouth and scored a memorable hattrick against Chelsea Fc in the English Premier League in the 1999/2000 season. 

He also won the UEFA Champions League title with Ajax Amsterdam in 1995.
